EmilyRose Johns is an associate attorney with Siegel & Yee. She practices law in the areas of civil rights (with a focus on prisoners' rights and police misconduct), criminal defense, and wage and hour litigation. She graduated with honors from the University of Washington in 2005. She received her law degree in 2013 from American University, Washington College of Law, where she graduated cum laude.
During law school, EmilyRose interned at the D.C. Prisoners’ Project and the Public Defender Service of the District of Columbia. She volunteered with the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, teaching constitutional law to high school students in the Anacostia neighborhood in D.C. EmilyRose is the 2013 student recipient of the Peter M. Cicchino Award for Outstanding Advocacy in the Public Interest.
EmilyRose is an active member of the National Lawyers Guild and the local Police and Prisons Committee—a coalition of lawyers and legal workers dedicated to ending mass incarceration and police brutality and misconduct. She also volunteers with Berkeley’s Needle Exchange and Emergency Distribution and with Rebuilding Together, Oakland. Prior to joining Siegel & Yee, EmilyRose worked as a Fellow at the Prison Law Office in Berkeley, CA.
