DEAN ROYER

Associate Dean Royer practices employment, civil rights, education, and labor law. Dean has represented clients in discrimination (race, gender, sexual orientation), retaliation, whistleblower, and wrongful termination cases. He has also represented labor unions. He has appeared in both state and federal court.
Dean also provides pro bono service to individuals and groups. He worked with community groups to challenge human rights violations in Haiti and advocate for a sweatshop-free ordinance in Berkeley. Dean also defended individuals charged with infractions related to a transportation fare strike. Dean is the updating editor for the Employee and Union Member Guide to Labor Law (West), Chapter 1 ("Organizing the Unorganized").
Dean received a B.A. from Tufts University in 1996 and his J.D. from New College of California in 2004. He obtained his license to practice law in December of 2004 and joined the firm in August of 2005.
